MY BIRTHDAY
So here you go guys, finally! Pictures taken during my post birthday celebration. I know all of you, especially TG, have been waiting for this. I had a hosting stint during my birthday so I didn't exactly feel it, my family had yummy food delivered at home and they feasted among themselves without me (labo noh?), the only present I got came all the way from Detroit (thanks, grache, for always being thoughtful) -- ganun yata talaga pag tumatanda, less presents, hehe... so it was just like it came and went, and I don't exactly feel like 26 yet! (I guess TG knows better. Since reaching 25, she counts backwards every year) But thanks, friends, for celebrating it with me, even if it was a weekday and some of you had other places to go to or needed to give an airplane cookie to someone afterwards. =) So glad that we are complete here (less grache who I know we all miss), as it rarely happens now. On my part, I want you all to know that our CORE is one of the more important things to me.

SOCS GETS MARRIED
It is a vivid dream. We usually forget our dreams and they say we dream in black and white, but this one was colored, and I remember the details and how the events progressed.
Socs is getting married. She is beautifully dressed in a flowing white gown with lace and beads. I don't remember who among us are present, but I suppose we are all there - just like in real life, we will all be there of course! Even Grache is there too. We are all in pinkish orange-brown gowns because that was the motiff (kinda weird, huh?)
The groom? He's a very rich guy who can give Socs almost any material thing that she wants. He seems really nice and sensitive too. To add, he has good business contacts - Danding Cojuangco's right hand man -Ramon Ang, is a very good friend of his and he is present all thoughout the ceremony and the reception, and so Socs' parents, especially her mom, is quite excited about it. In fact, the marriage is arranged through them.
How did they meet? The first time the guy sees Socs, he has a big crush on her already. If I'm not mistaken, they meet at a country club in London - Socs shows me after the wedding a group picture of the occasion. I don't remember what Socs is wearing in the picture, but the guy (didn't get his name) is in a brown leather jacket. Sleek, huh?
So except for the color motiff, everything seems perfect, and I'm sure you're now all wishing that this were true, and maybe even wishing that this were you instead of Socs. Well, it sounds really perfect until I tell you how the guys looks like. He is old and bald, and wears big, rounded and tinted eye glasses.
The first time I see the guy, I say "Eeeoooww!" to myself. And this was on the wedding day itself. Yup, we see him for the first time on the wedding day, and I guess you share the same sentiments with me. It is not just about him being old and bald and all, but there is something about the guy and the whole arrangement that all made us want to jump immediately and save Socs from damnation, as how we see the wedding to be.
The wedding starts and Socs and Baldie march down the isle stay at the end of it, with people surrounding them (kinda like coronation scene at the end of the LOTR trilogy) The opportunity comes and I run to Socs and whisper in her ear, "You can still back out!!" Socs nods and tells me that there is a plan. I walk to the back portion of the church were all you core guys are. You get mad at me for what I did as I am potentially ruining your plan of Socs's escape. I get mad at you guys for not telling me about it!I have been so concerned and worried and I try to do something about it, while there you are all united in plotting something, but you don't tell me at all!
There is a portion in the wedding when the bride has to go "backstage" or leave the centerstage, so she goes to the back of the church near the entrace where we core guys are. It's in a small room with a window where they usually put statues of saints with candles on wrought iron stands. Next thing I see is Socs cooking tilapia (tilapia?!!) with a cigarette. I don't know how she does it but she fries the fish and puts it on a rectangular white plastic plate. She has somebody send it over to the altar instead of her coming, then she escapes from the wedding.
Next scene is the reception. Baldie is there seated beside his buddy Ramon Ang who makes a speech about Baldie - how nice and kind and sweet he is and all that. Baldie is sooo hearbroken but still alive and drinking wine. There is a video shown to the audience too - I think it was a well-planned wedding with contingencies - they edit the video and replace it in time for the reception with children dancing, food and stuff instead of the supposed couple's love story (what love story?!). But after the video, there are two guests who decide to get married on the spot, and take advantage of the ceremonies so they wouldn't go to waste (weird huh?).
While all these happens, Socs is at home speaking to her mom who understands, but also feels bad because it was such a nice arrangement.
I find myself walking in Scout Rallos towards Socs house, perhaps to help her explain to her parents, but strangely, almost floating on top of millions of Ube Candy pieces which fell on the street. Some are coated with sugar, and some with cocunut.
And then.. I get awakened by my cellphone ringing.
So what do you think guys? Its so strange that I had to take Socs' suggestion to write it down here. It could mean a lot things. But Socs says that it can only mean three things:
"1. I'm sooo single (which I am)
2. ganun ako "kabait" na papatol ako sa isang guy na older/bald/whatever
3. hanggang tilapia lang kaya kong lutuin "
hahahaha
Any theories, guys? But definitely, thank goodness it is just a dream!

REG'S VISIT
HAPPY BIRTHDAY SOCS!

Hey Socs, here they are finally, shots taken during your Birthday Celebration at Chili's Greenbelt. It was a rainy Monday evening. Jaque and I managed to find ourselves at Max's instead of Chili's, while Apes and TG were buying a cake at Reb Ribbon, and Socs was just alone at the restaurant waiting for us to finally arrive.
We feasted on the bottomless chips and iced tea/lemonade, pork chop and cajun rice, bottomless chips, did we have pasta? and of course, socs's favorite chicken salad, and bottomless chips. TG had a stomach ache afterwards (had too much? check out one of her pictures.. looks like her mouth was rather full when it was taken .. with bananas?) And the finale? a happy birthday song from the Chili's staff with a big scoop of sundae topped with liquid cholocolate which we all finished in just a minute.
Great dinner! Great night! May you get closer to all your heart's desires socs! (and by the way, you now have more solo pictures than TG in this blog)

BLOGGING
I see this blog has been hella busy. Great to see you girls looking very fabulous. Me? I happened to have recruited Reggie in our company...so he and my pinay roomate Michelle are together most of the time. Also, with us are 2 other Pinoy's one of which is part of the infamous Nowd and Toad duo from the ADMU days. More Pinoy's are coming in so hopefully we move in to our own apartment and buy our own car.
What? How is Farmington? Farmington Hills is not as exciting as LA or New York but its very quaint. Lotsa places of interests in surrounding cities...like lakes and that island where Somewhere in time was filmed. Plus Detroit is near so the concert scene rocks...Tori Amos, White Stripes, Bloc Party, Interpol, Rolling Stones, Destiny's Child are some of them visiting this August.
Work? Well I'm into IT staffing plus in the future might be getting PMI certified...We are a multicultural society so mainly we have to be flexible. Its a job that requires a lot of talking so it can get stressful and hectic. But yeah its the same thing in the RP anyways although much more rewarding in the future.
Lovelife? Hehehe can't complain too much about it. Got a good man's heart...now if I could only get to the body.
Ayt...girls back to work for me...check out my cherrychixxblog for pixes.

Let the whining begin!
I was thinking...
It was around 9pm. I was watching a dvd in the music room when Renee called me, asking me if I wanted to go to Tagaytay. After that phone call, everything was a blur. April was sending me sms. Renee was coordinating with the other Core peeps. I was trying to find something to wear. Next thing I know, Cris was already parked in front of my house and we were now on our way to pick up Renee.
Picking up Renee at the Starmall was an adventure in itself. We had to drive around. Not to mention, scream as we talked on the phone, trying to find out which side of the street to look for her. Hmmm... Thinking about the MRT incident (QC Ave not North Edsa), I guess, yeah! Picking up Renee *is* always an adventure! Hahaha!
Anyway, we dropped by Yulo to pick up Macel. But since she had to finish a report, she decided to stay behind. We also got to meet Ivan for the first time. We grabbed our jackets and road trip time!!!
On our way to Tagaytay, it was basically a food trip. Besides the chips Renee and I brought, we also stopped by Jollibee to get some more grub. Gah! I never realized eating Crispy Chicken Strips inside a moving vehicle can be such a challenge.
Ok. Going to fast forward a bit. We arrive at Tagaytay around 11-12 already, I think. We were still trying to convince Jaque to come with us but due to some "technical difficulties", she wasn't able to join us. So it was me, Renee, April, and Cris.
I still can't believe we drove all the way to Tagaytay just to hang out at Starbucks. But it was fun and worth it! Remember the drunk guys who were walking behind us as we were trying to look for a place to hang out? How about that weird little grassy pathway? Or that restaurant that turned off their lights as we got nearer? So much fun. How about the slot machines? Or that mega slow waitress person at the casino? Grabe. We should do that again!
Girls night out ulit!

taking a trip down memory lane
Note that "OLD" would mean something from our student days, whether High School or College. "RECENT" would be anything after Graduation.
Teedge
Old memory:
Lots of old memories with this girl, I remember her directing a home video and ordering me to do the embarassing parts; once, we also went to a band member's house (and this was no ordinary band, they happen to be very well known at the time); she was also an avid 'cartoonist' back in HS, we'd pass notes around and she would almost always include one of her creative drawings in them.
Recent memory:
And the memories end there! hahaha! Kidding teedge. Lets see, since she went into hibernation and would only pop out every now and then (and well, because I've been hibernating...) my most recent memory would be her calling me up after the Ayala bombing last year all freaked out because she heard the explosion. Hey, I wouldve reacted the same way.
Grache
Old memory:
There was a math class that we attended together sometime during our MIS days...was it Stat? Or Calculus? Wait, did we even have Stat??!? We would always nod off in the middle of class because, well, because it was hella boring! Don't remember how we managed to pass.
Recent memory:
Watching the World Cup 2002 championship game at NSG. I think we both wore yellow to show our allegiance to Brazil. ole ole ole ole ole ole....And then there was the promise to watch next year's game in Germany. Sigh. So much for that dream.
Renee
Old memory:
It was after our club meeting (we were both part of Magnificat back in HS) and she asked me one simple question "Socs, are you okay?" and my answer? I cried in reply. Hehehe.
Recent memory:
I'm sorry Renee, but it would have to be Grache's birthday last year. You know what happened. I won't write out the details for all the world to (possibly) see. Vodka anyone?
Jaque
Old memory:
Since we only met in college, it would have to be watching you during Fencing practice. I've never seen anyone so girly play a sport! You deserve a medal, truly.
Recent memory:
I dont remember where we were, but it was just after that whole M episode. I remember it well because you weren't smiling at all. And I had to rush all the way to ortigas (which isn't a big deal, really) to be with you. Sana wala nang ganung happening ulit ha?
April
Old memory:
Lots of old ones too, but here's something you probably dont remember....the first time I went to Club Dredd it was with you and your other barkada...My plan was only to spend the night at your house so naturally I didn't have any clothes with me that are fit for going out. I ended up squeezing myself into one of jeans and wearing an oversized shirt to hide how ill-fitting it was...Hello?? Me and apes are hardly the same size! Oh and hey, there's the flower incident during your freshman History class experience hehhee (WAS it History? I'm not too sure).
Recent memory:
Hmm...Can I just say, Cinnzeo at Shangri-la Mall? Hehehe. And yeah well, there was also that one time when we were both still working at Sykes when we had drinks (just one drink each) at Shangrila Hotel before our shift. I think we both lacked sleep because we had a little "errand" that morning after we got off our graveyard shift, and we wanted comfortable seats to try and rest before work.
Macel
Old memory:
Running almost everyday during summer! This was back in college. Undoubtedly the fittest I've ever been. And, if I recall correctly, I was with you when you had your hair chopped off! I remember being really envious coz I wanted to do that too.
Recent memory:
Walking within your village at night and having dogs barking at us! I think my dog-trauma started there. Buti na lang talaga hindi tayo tumakbo nun. Also, that afternoon when we took photos of Dos for his portfolio. And then having dinner at his place, and then heading to Fete dela Musique afterwards!
